Strategy approved front cover

The NDA published its Strategy in March 2006.

PDF Strategy (approved by Government 2006) (3Mb)

Under Energy Act (2004) obligations we must review and publish our Strategy at least every five years. Therefore the publication of our updated Strategy is due no later than March 2011.

Since Autumn 2009 we have engaged extensively with stakeholders to develop our Draft Strategy.

In accordance with European legislation we have prepared a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) which identifies the environmental benefits and drawbacks of alternative options.

Consultation: 1 September - 24 November 2010

Draft Strategy for consultation September 2010 front cover

As part of our stakeholder engagement programme a 12-week public consultation commenced on 1 September and will close on 24 November 2010.

It includes:

  • Our Draft Strategy
  • Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) - Environmental and Sustainability Report
  • Non-Technical Summary of the SEA Environmental and Sustainability Report

Stakeholder views, feedback and responses will inform the drafting of the final Strategy. We will submit the final Strategy to Government in February 2011 for endorsement by the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. Following this public consultation and Government approval, our final Strategy, incorporating relevant outcomes of the SEA, will be published in March 2011.

Strategy (2006) Commitments Register: available shortly

Although not subject to public consultation we will soon publish our Strategy (2006) Commitments Register which

  • describes what we have achieved in our first 5 years since we published our Strategy in 2006
  • shows where our 2006 expectations have not been met.

Next steps towards publication of our Strategy on 31 March 2011
